About this Campaign


This is the second year I have ran to support the efforts of Wave City Care. Their support and love for the community is unparalleled! Whether it's the local schools, or our military, WCC is there to support and lend a helping hand.

Last year I ran four races to raise money for WCC, a marathon, 50K, half-ironman, and a 50 mile run. This year I have scaled back a little to give my body/joints some rest, and for me to spend more time with my loved ones. You can follow along with my journey for these upcoming races and any future endeavors I choose to subject myself to. I am mulling around some crazy ideas for the next couple of years.

About Wave City Care:


One Life Mentoring Program:  Partners with a Virginia Beach Middle School to mentor and develop relationships with homeless teenagers, focusing on empowering young people to realize they can make a difference in this world.  The teens learn self-esteem and good, healthy relationship skills in an atmosphere of encouragement and love.  This program is also done in a low-income housing area in Virginia Beach with at-risk youth.   One of the leaders of the program stated, “It’s not just about spending an hour with these kids.  It’s about getting in their world and connecting with them.  It’s about giving them the confidence and morals they need to grow up and be successful at whatever they do.  Being able to come in, connect and see their smiles every week make those hours completely worth it.”  Another leader stated, “Each week we have the opportunity to leave a fingerprint on these young people’s lives.  To be able to touch even one life and make a difference is worth everything.  I’m blessed to be a part of such an impactful program.”  

Shine Girl:   Shine’s aim is for each girl in grades 5-12 to develop an understanding of her own personal worth, strength and purpose and realize the potential within her to fulfill her desires.  Shine Girl was done in 5 schools last year and plans to be in 10-20 schools in the 2013/14 school year.  This summer Shine Girl will host two summer camps that are a week long.  Ropes courses, a craft project to help another charity, touring a local college, having a tea to learn etiquette are some of the activities involved in the summer camp.

Regeneration:  Addiction recovery program that deals with root issues and helps people progress towards a successful and transformed life.  It deals with all types of addiction (drugs, alcohol, pornography, eating disorders, gambling and cutting).  A participant in the program said, “Regeneration has taught me that perspective matters.  It has given me the God-view and the way to approach life that is healthy.  I cannot thank Wave City Care enough for this program.”
